ABOUT ME

Karen D. Badger was born in Vermont at the end of the hippie era. She is the second of five children and was raised by a divorced mother, who, until her passing in 2021, was one of her best friends. Karen graduated from college in 1978 with B.A.’s in Drama and Elementary Education. Later, she returned to school and in 1994 earned a B.S. in Scientific Mathematics. In addition to writing books, she spent 43 years year as an Engineer in the semiconductor computer chip manufacturing field.  In 2007, at the Golden Crown Literary Society Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, she met Barb Sawyer, who would later become her wife.  Karen and Barb have two grown sons and a daughter in heart, along with their significant others (also joined to their hearts), five grandkids and countless family and friends, all of whom they enjoy immensely.  In their spare time they enjoy home improvement projects, karaoke, camping, kayaking and motorcycling.

 

Present occupation

Karen originally published Xena fan-fiction on line under the pen name KD BARD, for which she became known for her Billie/Cat Commitment Series.  In 2005, she published her first novel (On A Wing and a Prayer) with Blue Feather Books, Ltd..  When Blue Feather Books closed its doors in 2014, she and Barb created Badger Bliss Books and rereleased the six books previously published by Blue Feather Books under their new imprint.  Karen retired in March of 2022 from a 43 year career as a semiconductor Engineer with the GLOBALFOUNDRIES Corporation, and is currently doing semiconductor consulting work under her company, GOI Consulting.
